Originally from the south of England, Ian ‘Beatmaster’ Wright relocated to Auckland, New Zealand in 2012. Ian has been a hip hop, funk and breaks DJ for over 20 years.
Music has always been at the heart of his career which includes; record shop manager, DJ tutor and club night promoter as well as over 15 years as a radio broadcaster. Over the last seven years, he's been a regular blogger and worked freelance as an events and film reviewer. As an early adopter of Social media, you’ll find Beatmaster on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram posting about his favourite music and events (and the occasional cute baby pic).
He’s been a DJ on Base FM since 2012; first rocking the Thursday night show ‘ILL BEHAVIOUR’, then moving on to host ‘Friday Drive’. You can now listen to the 'Beatmaster' bright and early as co-host of 'Base Breakfast' alongside Dylan C.
